Should We Worry About TBE Infections in Denmark?

Our chief medical director Carsten Schade discusses the emergence of Tick-Borne Encephalitis (TBE) in Denmark, noting a slight increase in cases and the presence of TBE-carrying ticks in new Danish areas. While the risk of TBE remains relatively low, certain groups, such as outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in specific occupations, are at higher risk. Symptoms range from mild flu-like illness to severe encephalitis. Protective measures include appropriate clothing, insect repellent, tick checks, and vaccination. Overall, with proper precautions and awareness, people can continue to enjoy outdoor activities while keeping TBE at bay.
