Bringing vaccination closer to everyday life: New partnership with Lidl
We are expanding access to vaccination across Denmark through a new collaboration with Lidl, bringing immunisation services directly into people’s daily routines.
Through this initiative, mobile vaccination units are being deployed outside Lidl stores in selected municipalities, making it possible to receive a vaccine while doing everyday shopping. The programme marks the first time vaccinations have been offered at supermarkets in Denmark.
The aim is to make vaccination easier and more accessible by integrating it into people’s daily lives.
“The purpose is to make vaccination more accessible by being closer to people’s daily routines. It may, for example, make it easier for busy families to take care of vaccinations while they are already out shopping and can simply stop by the vaccination bus,” said Helena Hobel, Head of Commercial at European LifeCare Group.
The initiative builds on a concept that has already proven successful in Sweden and is now being introduced in Denmark through a pilot programme at six Lidl locations in North Zealand over the summer.
Vaccines offered
At the mobile vaccination units, customers can be vaccinated against tetanus and tick-borne encephalitis (TBE).
These vaccines have been selected based on seasonal relevance and public health need. Tetanus protection is an important booster for many adults, while TBE is a growing concern in Denmark and across Europe due to increased tick activity during the spring and summer months.
By focusing on these vaccinations, the initiative aims to raise awareness of tick-borne diseases and make it easier for people to take preventive action at the time of year when the risk is highest.
Where and when to find the vaccination bus
The vaccination bus operates on a fixed weekly schedule across participating Lidl stores:
- Thursdays
- Frederiksværk
- Frederikssund
- Saturdays
- Allerød
- Kokkedal
- Sundays
- Helsinge
- Hillerød
This recurring presence makes it easier for local communities to plan a convenient visit.
Making vaccination more accessible
All vaccinations are offered on a drop-in basis, removing the need for prior booking and helping reduce practical barriers.
Our partnership with Lidl plays a central role in enabling this accessibility, by bringing healthcare into familiar and convenient settings.
“We want to make it easy for people in the communities around our stores to get vaccinated, and we are therefore pleased to make our parking areas available for the vaccination buses,” said Mads T. Nielsen, Development and Real Estate Director at Lidl.
By combining healthcare expertise with accessible retail locations, this collaboration demonstrates how new approaches can help increase uptake of preventive care.
Through initiatives like this, we continue to work towards making vaccination more visible, flexible, and integrated into everyday life.
